Otherworldly (#writephoto)

Note: I came across this #writephoto challenge several weeks ago and liked the concept. We’re to “use the image and title provided as inspiration to create a post… poetry, prose, humor… light or dark, whatever we choose… There is no word limit and no style requirements, except to keep it fairly family-friendly and not passionately political”.

I quickly wrote the following while waiting for tons of pictures to be uploaded from my camera to my laptop. Like the Five Minute Fridays exercises, I’m limiting my time with this and nothing will ever be perfect.

I spied in my dreams
another world through the rocks.
A beautiful scene.

I seek to escape
via the tiny portal.
I find I cannot.

Stuck in this bleak world,
Sorrow is overwhelming,
Why? oh Yahweh, why?

Peace rolls over me.
Someday, I will fly away
to the land I spied.
