Here is what I wrote:
I remembered a baby Prickly Pear (cactus) I shot the week before and decided to try taking closeup shots of it one morning. When I opened up the pictures on my laptop, I was shocked. The naked eye does not see all. I processed one; but, decided I needed the evening sun as opposed to the morning sun to highlight one area which was dark. So I went back out in the evening of the same day. It was an endeavor to get this shot itself as it had become windy. I was extremely pleased with the images I obtained.
This was shot using a macro lens, tripod, remote trigger release and the assistance of my husband holding a large piece of plywood to block the wind.
