Praying Mantis’ Ootheca
Earth without art is just eh
~ unknown ~
There will be times when I am overwhelmed with great anxiety, sorrow, grief, etc., and etc. that I’d have to escape the house and just stand outside in our backyard. I’d take in all the variety of wildflowers, butterflies and flying insects or watch a glorious sunset. For me, this is being still and knowing He is God.
“Stop and smell the roses” may be cliché. It’s about taking the time to view your world with different eyes. You may miss the tiniest wildflower, connecting with another human, spying a Monarch butterfly, etc., and etc. from all the busyness of life.
I spied a gorgeous tiny Mantis’ Ootheca in a crepe myrtle tree when I took a break from a 52Frames challenge assignment. I was thrilled by the discovery and it’s the second one I’ve found.
The smallest things in nature often settle me. The opposite can be just as true. Being on a beach and gazing out across the vast ocean gives me peace. The whole of the earth reminds me of how great my God is.
